Best of 2012 - Green Polishes

Hi Goddesses

Given my love / hate relationship with green, it won't surprise you to know that this is a fairly short post ha ha.  I think I've actually worn quite a lot of green this year, but not much of it has looked good on me.

This post then has the greens I have liked and kept, and excludes the greens I liked but which hated me - Cult Nails Deal With It, I'm looking at you !  As before, just click on the polish name to be taken to the original post and swatches.

The perfect fugly colour, this is a yellowy baby poop green, laced with shimmer from the OPI Germany Collex.  I loved it, and I've just about convinced myself I can keep it.

Another OPI winner, this time from their Holland Collection.  This is dusty and cool-toned and therefore perfect for my skin tone.  Beautiful sage shade.

I don't actually know if this is technically a 2012 polish, but it's one I wanted for most of the year.  Amazing green tones and glitters, lifted into the extraordinary by those pesky black glitters.

Sonoma is one of the great indie success stories of the year, and this graveside glitter is a winner through and through.  Black, silver and green blades of grass.

Creamy and dreamy, this is a beautiful green, slightly yellow in tone.  Celery soup in a bottle.  And nooooo, of course I didn't buy it for the name ......

A magical green and gold glitter, this has enough magic to take your breath away.  A cut above your standard glitterbomb.

So which was your favourite greenie?  I know there are LOADS I've left out ... which one did it for you ?

Enjoy xx :)

Guest Post - Geeky Owl - For The Love of Green!

Hi Goddesses

I'm on Guest Blogger duty today over at The Geeky Owl, which is ALSO the subject of Friday Friends, which is coming up in a couple of hours :)

I've only known Kirsten for a few months, but we connected over a love of polish, Lost and nail art.   We both suffer from depression, and we've both written of it on the blog, so we try to look after each other on our down days.   I thought it would be appropriate to do a green mani, as green is the colour for depression awareness, but a happy green, not a murky, sad, gloomy green!

The base is one of my favourite green and one of my favourite polish names - Bossy Boots from Butter London.   It's a lovely soothing creamy mint.   I then layered it with Nostalgic Lacquer Envy - a sort of green version of Connect The Dots.

Don't they look awesome together ?    I love how the glitter complements the base, yet stands out from the base.   I'm a known hater of hairy glitter, but even I don't mind the bar glitter in this one.

This is cool and fresh as a summer's day .... not that I'd know, living in England.

Enjoy xx :)

Butter London - BOSSY BOOTS

Hi Goddesses

So as it's Spring I've been on a bit of a pastel kick, and then I saw this, and let's face it, how could someone like meeee resist a polish called Bossy Boots ?

Not. At. All.  That's how.   I don't know why I am falling in love with greens either, but this is truly lovely.

This is a lovely creamy creme.  It glides on like Butter, and covers beautifully in 2 coats.   It's super glossy, although I did also put Poshe over this.

I love that the base is cream rather than white, making it less stark than some other minty greens.  Seriously, this is just delish.

It reminds me a lot of OPI's Pirates of the Caribbean Collection.  Just like them, on the nail, this shines like a pearl.  It's super classy, instantly elegant and a real winner.

Enjoy xx :)

Spring Challenge Day 3 - small Flowers

Hi Goddesses

Well, most of us had a rest day yesterday and today features a lot of grooviness - small flowers.

I am SUPER pleased with how this turned out.  Psyched.  Stoked.  Wowed.  Impressed by myself lol.   This may be my best stamping effort yet.  AND there's freehand art that looks like it was done by someone older than a toddler!!

The base for this was 2 coats of Butter London BOSSY BOOTS, a super gorgeous, super creamy pastel green.   The white is Konad white, and the yellow is OPI The It Color, an obnoxious egg yolk yellow.

The 4 main nails were stamped using Mash19.   You can also get this pattern on other plates, but the Mash one was the smallest, which tied it in with the small flowers theme.  I then used a dotting tool with the yellow to create the daisy centres.

The thumb couldn't be stamped - mine is too wide for a lot of patterns, and whilst I could have made it a flower bed, I didn't think of that at the time grrrr.  So instead I went freehand, and I LOVE the results.

Super simple - a medium dotting tool. White polish.  5 dots roughly in a circle and one yellow splodge in the middle.  Ta.  And Dah.

I am amazed they look so perfect actually - this is the first time I've managed to space something like this equally, and boy does it make a difference.

Super in love with this, but grrrrr gotta take it off and do another mani ..... Next!

Enjoy xx

PS and now Helen over at Nail Newbie has done the same but better - I hate her.

PPS - here is the list of everyone on the the challenge - it's still not too late to join us - just click on the Purple Crumpet Fairy logo on the RHS of my page :)
