Crumpet's Polishes of the Year 2013 - Orange

Hi Goddesses

Today I've got my favourite orange polishes of the year for you.  Orange is a colour I've really come to LOVE this year - it's also a big depression-fighter for me.  Orange on my nails just makes me happy :)  So, excluding my Big 4 brands, here are my Top 4 Oranges of the Year.

(To go to the post, just click the polish name).

Jade Uau

This is about as holo-tastic as you can get without turning yourself inside out.  This is a mesmeric polish.  Deeply, intensely stunning.

Chirality - Just Before Dawn

This is at the opposite end of the holo scale to Uau but no less beautiful for that.  This is a rich, burnt orange scattered holo.  Utterly gorgeous.

Essence - Gorgeous Bling Bling

Another burnt orange masterpiece, this dark ginger syrup is shot through with gold to make for the most divine flakie experience.

LACC - 1964

LACC is a brand I want to get more of in 2014.  Again, this is from the burnt orange family, and it made its first appearance on the blog as Kipper, during Book Week :) Again, just gorgeous - smooth, rich and strong.

The Greatest Orange Holo Comparison Post Of All Time

Hi Goddesses

So here it is, The Greatest Orange Holo Comparison Post Of All Time, or TGOCPOAT for short.  Damn, I so wish that said top coat lol.   I've been trailing this for a few weeks, so I hope you enjoy.

First things first - this is a BIGGIE.  There are lots of photos.  LOTS.  There are also 2 separate paws on show.  The polishes involved are -

Clicking each polish name will take you to the individual post for this polish, which also contains links of where to buy them.  You might also want to check out the original Orange Holo Comparison post HERE, which features a couple of others that didn't make the cut :(

Ok, so the first hand is pure orange holos -

And here they are on the paw -

index - Enkelini Lainey Lou / middle - Literary Lacquers More Like Fire Than Light / ring - Jade Uau / pinkie - Chirality Just Before Dawn

The overall summary is that Chirality, on the pinkie, is a very different type of holo.   Rich, dark and scattered, this is the odd one out, but no less beautiful for that.

Next to it, on the ring finger, is its polar opposite - Jade Uau.  These polishes, whilst both hologrpahic, come from opposite ends of the spectrum.   Uau is hardcore holo-oh-oh - linear, rainbow-juiced and bendier than an Olympic gymnast.

We then have the battle you've been waiting for - Enkelini Lainey Lou (index) v this year's holo-oh oh Literary Lacquers More Like Fire than Light.  Can YOU tell them apart ?

It's ridiculous, isn't it!  Ha ha.  They are BOTH perfect.    MLFTL has a little bit more subtlety, and a finer holo-oh-oh particle.  Lainey Lou, still has a fine particle, but is just a smidge more robust, and as a result, can hold more rainbow.   Do you need both?  No.  Am I going to get rid of one?  No.  Lol.

And here's all 4 again -

Ok, so now it's time to change the line up.   MLFTL remains on the middle finger, so that it can now be compared to its sister, Greatest Treasures, and we also have OPI DS Couture to compare to GT.

So, let's compare the 2 Literary Lacquers first of all.  When MLFTL (middle) first came out, a lot of you were worried about how it compared to Greatest Treasures and whether they were different enough to warrant owning both.  They are, and you should :)

And then there's how GT compares to OPI DS Couture.  One is sadly discontinued, the other is still available.  Any chance Literary Lacquers can kill some lemmings ?

OPI DS Couture is on the left as you look, and whilst these 2 are not 100% dupes, they are close enough if you are looking for a discontinued polish.  Again, I think the main difference is the subtlety provided by the super fine holo-oh-oh particle used by Literary Lacquers.

And just for fun - some more photos -

Phew!  Gah, there's so much lovely here, I still don't even know which one is my favourite :)

What about you - which one are you lusting after, and which ones have now gone on your wishlist?

Enjoy xx :)

Orange Holo-oh-oh with CHIRALITY Just Before Dawn

Hi Goddesses

Ok, this is the last orange holo-oh-oh post before the Greatest Orange Holo-oh-oh Comparison Post of All Time :)

THIS is how Chirality does holos.   Different, isn't it?   Unique in fact.   Beauty, certainly, but none of the crazy linear bendiness that most holos possess.

Let's start with the colour.  Wow, I can't even tell you how intensely saturated this is.  It looks like cinammon on your nails.  Pure burnt sugar.   Darkest marmalade.  It's just amazing.  Rich, so rich.

And then the holo.   I'm going to be honest.  I started putting this on and was really underwhelmed, but by the 3rd coat, the sheer beauty of this polish had grabbed me.

Despite being a scattered holo, this packs a HUGE punch.  It is exceptionally well produced and a top quality product.  And as I sat there, staring at it, I realised I had fallen utterly in love with it's simplicity, subtlety and grace.

This is a holo-oh-oh for grown-ups :)  Enjoy xx
