More Valentines

Hi Goddesses

I'm going to try and keep this one short because it's just a Valentine's mani.

For this one I used my beloved CG Traffic Jam and stamped with CG Snow.  I was playing with this new stamping plate ....

.... and to be honest, she was a little tricky to use!  I used this plate for a couple of designs (I'll post the other one later), and I found it to be smudgier than other ones I've used.  I'm not a stamping expert, so it could be my poor technique, but you can see on the little hearts near the tip of the nail that I'd get bits of polish pool in one area of the design.

I was then a VERY brave Crumpet and attempted a bit of desmudging with a Q-Tip and some polish remover.   I managed to clean up the worst of it without ruining the design, but some of the edges are still a bit mushy.

I ended up double stamping the double heart on the middle finger because the first transfer just wasn't opaque enough - luckily, I think the design lets me get away with it.

So there you go ... not perfect.  A bit like me!!

Enjoy xx :)

Christmas Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeve :)

PURPLE CRUMPET FAIRY CHALLENGE – The 31 Days of Christmas

Day 24 - Stockings

Hi Goddesses

Gah, this is a rush job!  I thought I’d prepped this post last week when I did the mani but apparently not!

It’s been a bit of a disastrous day in the kitchen.  I had just added the jelly layer to the trifle, decided I didn’t need the other pack of jelly, opened the cupboard door, put it in the cupboard … and before I could shut the door it leapt back out and plopped into the trifle!!  Aarrrrrgghh lol.  The backsplash went everywhere, so it’s been a bit of a sticky day, and a day of sticky surprises.  Who knew jelly flew so far ???

Sorry, what?  Oh yes, stockings.  I don’t actually do Christmas stockings, but there are a quintessential part of Christmas.  Now, these did rock when I did them, but they look shit in the photo!  They weren’t that wonky, I’m sure J

Base was Lumin-icecent (yay, I finally found out the names of my Color Club Foileds – by the way, God they’re useful, highly recommend), and the red was OPI Smitten With  Mittens, and my trusty CG Snow for the white.

Christmas Eve is my favourite favourite favourite night of the year.  We’ve been following Santa on Norad all day and we’re just about to leave him a note and 8 carrots.

Altogether …. Then one foggy Christmas Eve ……

Lots and lots and lots of festive love xxxx  J

Enjoy xx J

Purple Crumpet Fairy Christmas Challenge Day 22 - Christmas Puddings

PURPLE CRUMPET FAIRY CHALLENGE – The 31 Days of Christmas

Day 22 – Christmas Pudding

Hi Goddesses

I’ve pretty much known what I was going to do for this mani since October lol – ironic then that last night I was thinking “shit, I haven’t done it yet!”.

Luckily this is super simple and super effective.

Mine is very similar to the other Xmas Pud manis out there, with one exception – mine is on a base of OPI Merry Midnight.  I thought its flakiness would perfectly reflect the raisins and fruit in the pudding, and it does!

The white is CG Snow, the green is CG Glittering Garland and the red berries are CG Ruby Pumps.

It was all done with a thin dotting tool – I still find they give me better results than a brush.

Et voila!  Tomorrow is Santa J

Enjoy xx J

Monday Challenge - Candy Canes Water Marble

Candy Canes

Hi Goddesses

So, this week’s challenge over at PAA was Candy Coma which meant I had a chance to remedy the Italian hallucination-ness that was my original candy cane mani for the Purple Crumpet Fairy Christmas Challenge.

For whatever reason – laziness probably – I was still resisiting stripes, so I when I saw this Candy Cane water marble from Goddess Colette, I thought all my prayers were answered.

Yeh.  There’s a reason she has a gazillion followers and I don’t lol – she can do it!!!  It looked soooooo simple, but as ever, this water marble didn’t end up *quite* how I intended.

The trick with this marble is to make 1 line across the centre, and then bisect it in stripes.  My problems were that after so many stripes, the whole pattern decided to drag itself with me, hence the messes of the index and ring fingers.

The thumb is closest to what Colette had in mind, and basically I went downhill from there lol.  I do like the middle finger as this has the best colour definition, and I also like the pinkie, though it shouldn’t be in this mani (how come I never get this pattern when I try to make this pattern lol).

The hardest part of marbling with red is to find one that doesn’t just dilute itself in the water and end up a horrible pink.   Luckily I have tried to marble with reds before so knew which ones to avoid.  I ended up using Barry M Raspberry and CG Snow as my white and my base colour.

And yes …. Next year I’ll do a tape mani …….

Enjoy J  xx
